Top Beach Vacay Accessories

Going on a fun beach vacay with your kiddos? Here are our top recommendations for a way to make a beach day the best day ever!


We typically pack the small things with us and buy the big things when we get there!


But before we buy anything, ask the front desk at the hotel if they have any toys or anything in the lost and found, to save money. And if you do buy toys and don't want to take them home, leave them at the hotel so other kids can have fun, too! You help someone and help the environment!


What we pack:

  • Sunscreen

I like to just pack my sunscreen because I am picky on the sunscreen my kids, so I just prefer to pack my favorite with me. Now there has never been a country that I have been to that I haven't been able to buy children's sunscreen, but there have been times I haven't been able to read the ingredients, so that is why I prefer to just pack my own...

  • Swim diapers

I also like to just pack my own swim diapers, too. I have found that, especially in other countries, these can be hard to come by. For my little guy (2 and under), I just buy the disposable ones. They are simple one and done and throw them away after each use. Once my son became most of the way potty trained, I used the reusable swim diapers. He hardly had accidents, but I just felt safer using something. Sometimes kids are just having too much fun and plus chlorine always seems to make kids have to go potty, so I just feel safe is better than sorry (for everyone in the pool's sake).   • Swim suit and swim shirt

A swimsuit seems like a no-brainer but not all swimsuits are created equal. You can always find a swimsuit for your child no matter where you are, but you may not be able to find a swim shirt or swim hat so I always make sure to pack my favorites. My boys favorite swim shirts are these zippered ones, they make putting it on and off so much easier than sliding a wet swim shirt over your head. I also like the one piece, zippered long sleeve swimsuits for when they are babies. I feel it just provides to most sun protection and you don't have to worry about the shirt slipping up and their bellies getting sunburnt. I also like a water resistant hat that can be adjusted both at the head and under the chin to make sure it stays in place.

  • Sun tent

I do pack a sun tent if the majority of our trip is going to be a beach vacation. I have also used our sun tent as a place for our baby to take a nap that is confined. (This worked great for our family, but it has to be something you feel safe and comfortable doing.)


  • Beach ball

I don't typically pack too many toys, but beach deflate and are super small to pack. And they are light so they will double as a safe toy to play catch with inside a hotel room. All about multi-use toys!


  • Trucks

Another multi-use toy for my kids are any type of truck or excavator. We play with these on the airplane, in the airport, hotel, restaurants, pretty much everywhere. So I always just bring these along to the beach so the can excavate and dig in the sand for hours with these guys.


  • Ball

This ball has probably seen more countries than a lot of people will ever see. We have played with it with our little ones, played when Kev and I did just a couple's beach trip, and Kev has even played with it on guys only bachelor parties. It is probably our favorite beach toy that can provide hours of entertainment for all ages. And it's small and takes up no space right inside a shoe!

  • Beach toys

We buy our beach toys there. If you have a car stop at a local store away from the beach if you can to save money, but if not you will always be able to buy them at beach store, but note you will pay a premium price.
